Connecting a wearable

Learn how to connect your wearable device with HeiaHeia over your mobile phone or computer and which data will be imported.

By connecting your wearable device with HeiaHeia you can import your workouts and activity automatically to the service.

The following wearables are supported:

  • Garmin
  • Polar
  • Suunto Movescout
  • Suunto App
  • Fitbit

Third party devices / apple Health and Google fit

You may also connect some third party devices or apps if they are compatible with Apple Health or Google fit. Connect your app or device first with Apple Health or Google fit. Then make sure you have connected HeiaHeia with Apple Health / Google fit (s. articles). This way you can import your trainings and activity from a third party device or app to HeiaHeia. Which data is possible to import, depends  on the settings of the third party device/app and Health app / Google fit.

Note!

To avoid double entries we do not recommend connecting both, a wearable and Health App or Google Fit, to HeiaHeia. For example, if HeiaHeia imports your steps from a wearable, you should prevent the Health App or Google Fit providing the same steps data to HeiaHeia.

Useful tips:

  • If HeiaHeia doesn’t recognize a sport or activity type, it will be imported as your device +import (e.g. Polar import) and the entry will be set to private. You can edit both the privacy setting (from private to public) and the sport/activity type.
  • If entries recorded in your device aren’t showing in HeiaHeia, please check to see that data is being synchronized between your device and it’s service provider. HeiaHeia will import the data from the service provider, not directly from your wearable. Please follow the synchronization instructions for your device and the service provider. You can usually perform a manual synchronization via the service provider’s mobile application.

If entries recorded in your device  still aren’t showing in HeiaHeia, go back to where you activated the connection, disconnect the device and connect again (toggle off and on).

  • If you are using an older device, it might not support all the information listed above.
  • Some data, such as sleep, might be interpreted in a different way depending on the device: for example, HeiaHeia imports your sleeping data for one day, your device for the day after. This is why your device and HeiaHeia are sometimes showing different data.
  • If you want to remove your device from HeiaHeia, go back to where you activated the connection. Garmin requires going through the Garmin Connect service (https://connect.garmin.com): Click the profile icon > Settings > Account information > Applications > Remove permission > HeiaHeia.
  • Your entire activity history will not be imported when connecting a new wearable or health/fitness app with HeiaHeia, only data from the past week.
