Find out how to join your community teams, manage your membership or create your own team.
If your community is starting a team challenge, make sure you are part of a team!
Community members are often already assigned to teams by the admin. However, sometimes you can create your own team for team challenges. In this article you will find instructions on how to create your own team and how to join an existing team in the app/browser version.

Joining a team
You are invited to a HeiaHeia community as a new member:
- If you join the community via an email invitation, you will automatically join also your team.
- When signing up to the community with a code, you will be asked to choose your team. If needed, please ask your employer/organisation, in which team you should join.
You can also join teams later (s. Managing teams)
Team types
There are 3 different team types:
- Public team: All community members can join.
- Closed team: Team is visible when browsing teams. Membership only by request. The request will be pending as long as the admin of the team accepts your request.
- Private team: Team is not visible when browsing teams. Membership only by invitation.
Managing teams
Mobile:
You can view teams on the second tab "Communities and Friends". Scroll down to Teams. You can see your teams and all open and closed teams. Private teams are not listed.
- Tap on a team:- If you are not a member of the team, you'll see the option Show members (if it is an open team) and Join this team.
- If you are a member of the team, you'll see also options Chat with your team and Leave the team. For open teams all members can invite new members.
- If you are the admin of the the team, you'll have in addition the possibilities to Invite members, Edit team or Remove the team.

Set up a team in the app
Please note that creating your own team is only possible if the Admin user in your community has allowed you to create teams on your own.
- Open the second tab of the app, "Communities and friends".
- Scroll down to Teams and select "Create a team".
- Give the team a name and, if you wish, a photo and a description and select the team type -> click "Create".
- Invite members: Next, it's time to invite members to your team by tapping the "Invite" button. Please note that you can only invite people who have already joined your organisation's HeiaHeia community.
- Invited persons will appear in your team after they have accepted your invitation in the HeiaHeia app, or via an email notification.
- The team creator can administer the team and manage its members.
Teams in web version
Click on My HeiaHeia -> choose your community. You will see the Company view. Click on Teams in the blue banner.
1. My Teams
By clicking the team you can see the members of your team and their activity. You can also invite new members to the team, leave a team or chat with the team members and send photos.
2. Browse teams
Browse all teams in your community. Here you can also leave a team and join a new team (depending on team type). Private teams are not shown on the list.
3. Create a team
Create your own, unofficial team. Give your team a name and a description if desired.
Choose the type of the team:
- Public team: All community members can join.
- Closed team: Team is visible when browsing teams. Membership only by request.
- Private team: Team is not visible when browsing teams. Membership only by invititation.
Teams you created show under My teams. Here you can also edit your team, chat or invite new members.
