Fitbit and Google Fit connections are changing (August 2026)
Google is phasing out the interfaces that HeiaHeia has used to connect directly to Fitbit and Google Fit. As a result, the existing Fitbit and Google Fit connections in HeiaHeia will stop working in the future.
What do I need to do?
The new setup works by sharing your Fitbit or Google Fit data with your phone's health platform first. HeiaHeia then imports the data from there.
Android:
Google Health (Fitbit) → Health Connect → HeiaHeia
or
Google Fit → Health Connect → HeiaHeia
iPhone:
Google Health (Fitbit) → Apple Health → HeiaHeia
We recommend setting up the new connection before disconnecting your existing Fitbit or Google Fit connection.
Android: connect via Health Connect
1. Connect Fitbit or Google Fit to Health Connect
1.a Fitbit
Take into use Google Health App from Google Play (Google Health (Fitbit) - Apps on Google Play).

Allow all the relevant data types, such as steps and exercise, to be written to Health Connect.

When the new connection is working, you can disconnect the old Fitbit or Google Fit connection from HeiaHeia.
iPhone: connect via Apple Health
1. Make sure your Fitbit data is shared with Apple Health

3. Check that your data is importing
Check HeiaHeia to make sure your steps and activities are being imported through Apple Health.
Once everything is working, you can disconnect the old Fitbit connection from HeiaHeia.
Having trouble?
If your data does not appear in HeiaHeia after setting up the new connection:
- Check that Fitbit or Google Fit is sharing the relevant data with Health Connect or Apple Health.
- Check that HeiaHeia has permission to read that data.
- Open HeiaHeia and allow some time for the latest data to sync.
- Make sure you are not unintentionally blocking the required permissions in your phone's health or privacy settings.
